Happy Birthday Mike

I know it’s way past midnight on the east coast, and just a couple of minutes past over here where the sun sets, but I don’t care- I’m going to write this post like it is still August 29.
Today would have been the King of Pop’s 51st birthday, and because Michael was such a big inspiration to me getting involved in the world of music I have decided to do like all of the rest of you and pay tribute. Now some of you out there might not even be old enough to have actual memories of Mike when he wasn’t wilding out with his baby hanging over the balcony, but I do. In 1988 the first piece of music that I ever remember listening to was Mike’s BAD album. I remember my dad bought it for me on vinyl and we use to sit by the record player and listen to it over and over and over again. Dirty Diana is still one of my all-time favorite records to this day. And if I remember correctly my mom said that she was prego with me at an MJ concert- imagine that. If it weren’t for Michael’s videos and amazing showmanship I might not have wanted to get into the music industry and make music videos and work with these crazy artists, let alone write about them. So to Mike I say “Thank You. Thank you for inspiring me as well as millions of others to follow our dreams. You will be more than missed.”
Here are a couple of tribute songs and covers to send you off for the night:
