Grizzly Bear has become THE supreme indie band this week by associating themselves with two other artists that you wouldn’t even come CLOSE to putting in the same sentence as them. Who would have guessed that Michael McDonald and Jay-Z would both be fans of the group? Who would have thought that there would come a time in musical history when Michael McDonald, Jay-Z and Grizzly Bear would even have something in common? If you didn’t know, the Michael McDonald featured b-side of the single above is now on sale over at iTunes, and it is something you need to hear. It sounds like the The Doobies bought some vintage from the thrift store and decided to take an art class at the community center- but it’s good though. And while most of us were trying to track down a link to the leaked BP3 album, Hov and Beyonce were out at the Williamsburg Pool Party vibing with GB. It’s so good to see other artists showing respect for people outside of their own genres. Now it’s time for the mainstream to stop with all of the foolishness and pay attention to good music.
